HDR m

Hdr with the eos m is for me a simple process of shooting three bracketed exposures of +1 0 -1 stop. The resulting exposures are sent to photoshop merge or photomatix. I usually do not go overboard with the processing, preferring a more subtle look.

M yin & yang M

Asian culture is full of balance, we can learn much from it. At the higher levels of appreciation, many concepts, ideas, feelings are reduced to its simplest form.
As a photographer, I am in a phase where I try to embrace this simplicity in my pictures, yet retain a level of implied allegory and story telling.
Its something to aim for, only much time and many pictures later, will I know how to consistently be at that level.

FloraM

I approach flora pictures using graphic design principles, where negative space is important to the photograph. I also like the square format.  Sometimes simplicity is the best policy, as in the pussy willow picture.  Lastly, flora need not be a literal presentation, as in the final photograph, where it is reduced to pure graphic design, yet a very small part maintains a literal presentation.

Although the m has no onboard pano feature, doesnt mean I cant do panoramas.

 To make panoramas more interesting, shoot the sequence with as much thought as you would a single still.
Example, have at least one intro subject and/or end subject and also a main subject in between.
 example below, see the family and twins. they add life, the woman catches your eyes just before they exit the panorama.
Believe it or not, the "twins" is just one child, yes or no?

 in the next example, note the child at the end, which leads the eye back into the central subject, preventing the eyes from just leaving.

 this next sample of an extremely long pano, the car and pointing person starts the eyes on its way to the central subject, using the lens flare to add interest, and finally, the kid looking at you with symmetrical reflection at the end, arrests the eyes.

 May your next pano be a well-thought out picture rather than a spray and pray effort.

m moments

what is the decisive moment? I think its safe to say that the most famous definition was by Bresson. I would like to stand on giant's shoulders and expand upon his definition. The decisive moment is God's moment, where man's lighting cannot compare,

 its the subject's moment, where his or hers emotion and thought are captured...

 its the photographers idea that is quickly caught and expressed, a spur of the moment's self portrait...

 its the composition's moment of a mundane subject...

its the realisation of a new idea of a traditional object, in this case, a radical design for a guitar body...

 and last but not least, the enlightened moment of any current social issues with respect to cultural and geographical relevance. In this case, the reliance on foreign workforce in the growth of a neighbouring country's economy and future growth.
To avoid misunderstanding, I would like to express gratitude to these foreign people that are willing to work with sometimes ungrateful employers and circumstances...

I thknk this idea of the decisive moment I proposed can be added to ad infinitum, and would love to hear your own input. Carpe diem!

street m

a lot of people take two pictures with the m and say its lousy for street
 photography. I think its a case of not understanding that timing, exposure and technical decisions, an eye for story is all on the photographer and not the camera.

magic lantern is third party software that resides on the sdcard. with it , uou get focus peaking, magic zoom focus, intervalo, motion detect shutter, and many other features for both stills and video. focus peaking simplifies shots like this:

the ef-m 22mm wonder

At a little over usd100, this lens has to be the bargain of the decade. some have bought at only usd99. Super sharp, creamy bokeh.
 Incredible colour saturation.

After years ofbeing a nikon fan, I stumbled on this deal of a camera, the Canon EOS M.
I bought it just because its the only camera with the quality of a dslr that got its launch price slashed by more than 50%.

Turned out to be the deal of the year, great build quality, super sharp lenses, superior image quality.
